π 17. How organizers enable registration for players without a chess ID
This feature is only for players who do not have a USCF, CFC, FIDE, or NWSRS ID. Players who already have a chess ID should use the normal registration flow.
Event setup
1. Open the event edit page.
2. Go to Registration Options.
3. Turn on Allow registration without chess ID.
4. Optional: for NWSRS-rated events where players without an NWSRS ID may play, turn on:
β’ NWSRS School ID Required
When enabled, no-ID players must enter a 3-letter NWSRS school ID during guest registration. Adults may enter ADU. Players can look up school IDs at:
https://player.nachesshub.com/schools.html
5. Enter or review:
β’ USCF membership options for players without chess ID
Format:
Name|Fee|MinAge|MaxAge|ConvenienceFee
One option per line.
6. Optional: if no-ID players must buy a USCF membership through you, turn on:
β’ Players without chess ID must buy USCF membership through organizer
This option appears after the USCF membership options and is disabled unless Allow registration without chess ID is turned on.
The USCF purchase option is available only if your organizer profile supports USCF membership purchase through NACH.
What players see
When a player clicks Register, they may be sent to the login page.
If the event allows no-ID registration, the login page shows:
No Chess ID (USCF, CFC, FIDE or NWSRS ID)? Click Here
That path is only for players with no chess ID.
The player will:
1. verify their email,
2. enter player/contact info,
3. enter grade information,
4. enter NWSRS school ID if the event requires it,
5. continue to normal event registration,
6. pay if payment is required.
If the player enters grade information, NACH stores the playerβs high school graduation year using September 1 as the start of the new school grade.
Guest account behavior
NACH creates or reuses an internal guest player account for the no-ID player.
This keeps registrations connected to:
β’ roster,
β’ payments,
β’ pairings,
β’ refunds,
β’ registration history.
If the same name, email, and phone are used again, NACH reuses the existing guest account. If that guest is already registered for the same event, the system reports that they are already registered.
No fake USCF, CFC, FIDE, or NWSRS ID is created.
NWSRS school ID behavior
If NWSRS School ID Required is enabled, the no-ID player must provide a 3-letter NWSRS school ID.
That value is saved to the player accountβs NWSchool property.
Examples:
β’ Student school ID: TST
β’ Adult player: ADU
This is useful for NWSRS-rated events where players may not yet have an NWSRS ID but still need a school code for pairing/reporting.
USCF membership purchase
If required by the event:
β’ the selected USCF membership fee is collected with the entry fee;
β’ after successful payment, NACH creates a paid USCF membership purchase order;
β’ the organizer must fulfill that order;
β’ NACH does not automatically submit the membership to US Chess.
When fulfilled, the purchased USCF ID is assigned to the existing guest player account. A new NACH account should not be created for that player.
Managing guest players
Use:
Organizer Portal β Guest Players
From there you can:
β’ change the guest player handle,
β’ reset password,
β’ assign or clear a real chess ID,
β’ assign or update NWSRS information,
β’ explicitly convert the guest account to a regular player account.
Assigning a chess ID does not automatically convert the account. Conversion is a separate explicit action. After conversion, the player no longer appears on the Guest Players tab.
Assigning NWSRS IDs to guest players
When assigning an NWSRS ID, organizers may enter either:
β’ the real 4-character NWSRS ID, or
β’ the full 8-character school+grade+ID value.
Example:
TSTN9717
NACH stores:
β’ NWID = 9717
β’ NWSchool = TST
β’ NWGrade = N
NACH also updates the playerβs grade-related information and high school graduation year based on the NWSRS grade code, using September 1 as the start of the new school grade.
All stored NWSRS fields are visible and editable from the /Accounts details and edit pages.
Important notes
β’ Do not enter fake or temporary chess IDs.
β’ No-ID guest players are not blocked by normal expired-USCF membership checks.
β’ Their USCF membership purchase requirement is controlled only by the eventβs no-ID settings.
β’ Players without chess ID must buy USCF membership through organizer only affects the no-ID guest registration process.
β’ Normal logged-in registrations are not affected by this setting.
β’ If payment is canceled or fails before money is recorded, the unpaid guest registration may be removed.
β’ Normal logged-in registrations are not affected by guest cleanup rules.
